About Us

MyPlate is a symbol of balanced eating, representing the five food groups, and part of a larger communications initiative based on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans to help consumers make better food choices. MyPlate and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans are both projects of the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP).  CNPP has a team of nutrition experts, including Registered Dietitians, food scientists, and nutrition policy experts, working to improve the health and well-being of Americans by developing and promoting dietary guidance that links the best available scientific evidence to the nutrition needs of consumers.
