"White strips" are not a clinical sign of Strep, so no...this is not typical. If you had a confirming lab test (rapid strep or culture)...

Not likely. Bactrim...a sulfa drug....is not used to treat Strep.

If the test was not Strep, then it was most likely viral. One virus, in particular, tends to last longer than the typical week.....that is the EBV...
