I've seen people use Nature Throid (prescription medication) instead of Synthroid.  Some folks find that it does a more complete job.

What you describe could be caused by a cold or flu, or it could be heart problems.  Better have someone look at it, if you can, just to be safe.

Sounds to me like you might have fluid in there.  A good Ear, Nose and Throat doctor should be able to help you clear it out.

It could also be perimenopause, as hormonal changes can do a lot of the same things you describe.
