Bio

Debby Herbenick, PhD, MPH is an internationally recognized expert on sexual health and relationships and is the author of Because It Feels Good: A Woman's Guide to Sexual Pleasure and Satisfaction. In addition, Dr. Herbenick is a Research Scientist and Associate Director of The Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University and a sexual health educator at The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction. She has provided expert opinion on sex and relationships for The Today Show, Tyra, CNN.com, the New York Times, the LA Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Glamour, Cosmo, Men's Health, Women's Health, SELF, Shape, Marie Clare, Elle, Men's Fitness, Essence, Ladies Home Journal and many other media organizations.

Dr. Herbenick is an AASECT certified sexuality educator. In addition, as a researcher, she has conducted research on topics such as sexual pleasure, sexual satisfaction, the use of sexual enhancement products (e.g., vibrators, lubricant, arousal cream), condom use, sexual development, women's and men's desire (libido), the effect of cancer treatments on sexuality, and genital self-image. She has published dozens of research articles in scientific journals including the Journal of Sexual Medicine, Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, Sexual & Relationship Therapy, American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Sex Research, Sexual Health, the International Journal of Sexual Health, the American Journal of Sexuality Education, International Journal of STD & AIDS, Sex Education, Cancer Nursing, and Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Dr. Herbenick is a frequent public speaker and enjoys speaking at universities, corporate events and community events. She also writes weekly sex columns and blogs for Kinsey Confidential, Men's Health, PsychologyToday.com, Time Out Chicago, Velocity and Cheeky Chicago. She also writes and hosts the popular Kinsey Confidential podcast series, available through NPR.com and iTunes.
