Q.

what causes occasional pain in the pyreneum area while urinating

Sometimes weeks between occurrences, I have some pain while urinating and am wondering what causes it.  I am a 62 year old man, see a urologist and primary care physician regularly, have never been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate or prostate cancer, and had a colonoscopy recently.  About a year ago I had a prostate infection, but after a month of cipro the pain went away, and that pain was something that was persistent -not occasional. I also have some diverticulosis.
