when coughing the taste is like chlorine.

I have had this cough now for about 6 months, the rattle in the chest then into a cough, after coughing the after taste or fumes it taste like chlorine, what could this be. I don't smoke quit 3 years ago. Haven't been around anyone that has a cough.
