Toddlers need between 1,000 to 1,400 calories a day.  This depends on age, size and physical activity, although most toddlers are considered active.  This link will provide the daily servings per food group with examples for a 12-24 month old toddler.  It also gives tips for toddler development, such as signs when a toddler is ready to self-feed.
