It depends on the extent of the tear, but usually, surgery is required. I just had two rotator cuff repairs. If it could have healed without surgery, I would have been on-board.  Discuss any non-surgical options with your orthopedic surgeon, but I suspect you will be seeing the inside of a surgery center soon.
