There is no research to show that the stomach shrinks when dieting or following a low calorie diet. The only way to decrease the size of the stomach is through surgery, which is certainly not for everyone.
But by changing what and how you eat, you can change your appetite. For example, eating regular balanced meals at the table, not letting yourself get over hungry, fitting in regular exercise and getting adequate sleep, can go a long way towards curbing your appetite.
