Now that I'm in my 40's, why does my scalp become so much drier after I shampoo it?

As we age, the sebum production in our skin and our scalp declines. This can be a welcoming change for some -- less shampooing, less acne, or less seborrheic dermatitis. But the dryness is the tradeoff. Some patients apply scalp moisturizers such as tea tree or olive oils to help relieve the dryness.
