A lack of insurance and an inability to pay more than a minimal amount should never prevent you from getting the help you need and deserve.
Licensed professionals, including psychologists, have an ethical responsibility to take a number of "pro-bono" cases. This means for little or no fee. Of course, there is a limit to the number of these cases that anyone can take, but it's worth asking.
You can call your local psychologists association, explain your situation and ask for the names of psychologists in your area who would be willing to help you. You can also check social service agencies as well as any major hospital center because these entities generally have access to mental-health providers who require minimal fees.
