Is it safe for a woman to get a tattoo while pregnant?

...As a physician we do not always know how tatoos affect patients. However, I am conservative when it comes to issues that may affect patients without all the information. Having said that, I would not do it. I just don't think it is that important to potentially risk pregnancy loss. ...There is a risk of infection which although most often is local, could become more extensive in the blood stream which could affect the pregnancy. Just don't do it.
