What is the difference between Prilosec and Prevacid?

Prilosec and Prevacid belong to the same drug class, which is the class of proton pump inhibitors. The mechanism of action within the body will be the same, producing similar side effects.

Both medications have generics and can be found over the counter. They are simply made by different companies.
