Yes, you can still get pregnant if you take oral contraception.

While birth control pills are an effective method for preventing pregnancy it's very dependent on routine use.

If taken exactly as directed the failure rates are extremely low and they're 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.

In reality women need to take the pill daily, and at nearly the same time of day, in order for this method to result in these percentages.

More and more studies have shown higher pregnancy rates with oral contraception. One recent study quoted numbers as high as '20 times greater risk of unplanned pregnancy than other forms of birth control'
