Most gym equipment overestimates the caloric burn by up to 15%. That’s because treadmills, stationary bikes and elliptical don’t take into consideration a person’s gender, body composition (muscle, fat), level of training, age and whether or not someone is holding onto the handles of the machine (which reduces the number of calories burned).
