Symptoms of diverticulitis are:

  • Severe abdominal pain and cramping that is usually worse on the left side and increases when the area is touched
  • Nausea
  • Chills or fever
  • Constipation, thin stools, or diarrhea
  • Rectal bleeding (rare)
