Think about what your goals and needs are. For instance, if you're a beginner, then a hybrid or a traditional cruiser will be your best bet. Whether you've decided or not, the best thing to do is head down to your local bike shop, discuss your options with the salesperson, let the salesperson fit you properly, and then try some of the bikes out on the road.

Your bike should feel stable, comfortable, and simple to use (gears and brakes should work without a hitch). Buying a bike online can be tricky because your bike will need adjustments, and it's going to be difficult to know for sure if it will feel right if you don't try it first.
